Cain in the desert

Travelled back again, made it back to the desert, saw the approaching figure. Manged to reach him this time. He is Cain, leader of a colony here. He leads me to a city, guarded large wooden gates. walls 20 foot high, I can see the tops of buldings within and see people walking on them. The gateway opens, there are ladders spanning the walls of buildings without doors or windows. The means of entrance into a house/ building is through the roof. Cain directs me to a ladder and motions for me to go up. These people remind me of Ants, they have trapdoors on their roofs (some roofs are dome like and others have raised trap doors, a primitive drainage system allows water to run down the outside of th building where it is collected in large stone vessels, not unlike a trough. I see children playing with the water below me, often shouted at by old women.
